Tokyo stocks continued to drop Wednesday as overnight declines in major European and US bourses hurt investor sentiment.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average ended down 11.76 points, or 0.08%, from Tuesday at 15,302.65, according to Japan's (Kyodo) News Agency.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange finished 4.88 points, or 0.38%, lower at 1,270.82.
Major decliners included marine transport, iron and steel shares as well as mining shares.
