
Britain's top share index hovered near one-week lows on Thursday, with oil major Royal Dutch Shell weighing after it missed earnings expectations, Reuters reported.
The blue-chip FTSE 100 equity index was down 0.6 percent at 6,788.66 points going into the middle of the trading session, near its lowest in around a week.
The UK Oil and Gas index fell 3.3 percent. Oil major BP and Weir Group, which makes valves and pumps for the energy and mining industries, both declined by about 3 percent.
Royal Dutch Shell dropped 4.2 percent, the worst-performing FTSE 100 stock in percentage terms after its earnings miss. The company also announced a $15 billion cut in spending due to the slump in oil prices
