Bollywood actress to sue British newspaper over fixing claims

A little-known Bollywood actress plans to sue British newspaper The Sunday Times for using her picture in a story on match-fixing in cricket, saying she was unwittingly drawn into the row. \"I plan to sue the newspaper,\" Nupur Mehta, who has done small roles in two films, told reporters in Mumbai late Tuesday. The Sunday Times reported that Indian bookmakers had hired an unidentified Bollywood actress to lure cricketers into match-fixing and used Mehta\'s photograph to illustrate the story. The paper also quoted bookies as saying that last year\'s World Cup semi-final between India and Pakistan in Mohali was fixed, a claim denied by the International Cricket Council (ICC). Mehta, who confirmed the published photograph was hers from a movie still, said she had not seen the match. \"Somebody called me saying he was from The Sunday Times and asked me whether I saw the Mohali match,\" she said. \"I was not in Mohali and had not seen the game.\" The Board of Control for Cricket in India declined to respond in detail.
