Joe McMahon, a 24-year-old former associate producer for the docu-series Deadliest Catch, has been shot and killed outside his family's home in Pasadena.
KABC-TV said McMahon was discovered early Friday by Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies, just one driveway down from where he lived. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The deputies responded to a call about possible gunshots fired and found McMahon on the pavement. He had been shot multiple times.
The motive for the shooting is unknown, but the body of a 24-year-old suspect was located inside his vehicle later in the day in West Los Angeles. The man, who was not identified to the media, died from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Investigators are still trying to determine the connection between the dead men, but they said they do not believe drugs or gang issues were part of the apparent murder-suicide.
