Gwyneth Paltrow's mother, actress Blythe Danner, was reportedly "really upset" when she learned of her daughter's plans to "consciously uncouple" from husband Chris Martin. She loves Chris," a source recently told Us Weekly. "She begged Gwyneth not to end it, that he's a good man. But Gwyneth had to do what she felt was best." Paltrow has often cited her parents marriage as a source of inspiration (Bruce Paltrow died in 2002). "I asked my dad once, 'How did you and Mom stay married for 33 years?' And he said, 'Well, we never wanted to get divorced at the same time,'" the actress told Glamour U.K. back in 2013. "It's hard being married," she said at the time. "You go through great times, you go through terrible times. We're the same as any couple." Paltrow and Martin announced their separation via the actress' lifestyle site, GOOP, last week. "We have been working hard for well over a year, some of it together, some of it separated, to see what might have been possible between us, and we have come to the conclusion that while we love each other very much we will remain separate," they wrote in a statement. In a later post-script to her GOOP newsletter, Paltrow wrote: "P.S. CM and I in deep gratitude for the support of so many."
