
Indian actress Suchitra Sen, who lived as a recluse since retiring from film in 1978, has died in Calcutta after a brief illness, her doctors said. She was 82. The woman known as the Greta Garbo of India was admitted to a hospital last month with a chest infection. Her condition worsened Thursday night and she died Friday, the BBC reported. Among her films were "Devdas," "Aandhi," "Share Chuattar" and "Deep Jwele Jaai." Sen is survived by her daughter Moon Moon Sen, and granddaughters Riya and Raima Sen, all of whom are actresses, the BBC said.
