Jane Fonda reveals she was raped and abused as a child
"I always thought it was my fault," Jane Fonda said as she revealed she was raped and sexually abused as a child
London - AFP
American actress Jane Fonda revealed she has been raped and was sexually abused as a child, in an interview with British magazine The Edit.
"I've been raped, I've been sexually abused as a child and I've been fired because I wouldn't sleep with my boss, and I always thought it was my fault," the 79-year-old said.
The two-time Oscar winner, who is known for her political activism, made the comments in an interview marking International Women's Day on March 8.
"I know young girls who've been raped and didn't even know it was rape. They think, 'It must have been because I said 'no' the wrong way'," she said.
"One of the great things the women's movement has done is to make us realise that (rape and abuse is) not our fault. We were violated and it's not right."
The magazine, which is owned by the online luxury shopping platform Net-A-Porter, did not mention who was responsible for the abuse.
Fonda was interviewed by fellow Oscar winner and activist Brie Larson.

to 'eternal style' of late Alaia
Paris - Emiratesvoice
Two months after legendary designer Azzedine Alaia's sudden death plunged the fashion world into mourning, an exhibition in homage to the "King of Cling" opens Monday in his studios in Paris. The Tunisian-born designer, renowned for the way his clothes hugged the body, died suddenly in November aged 82, reportedly of heart failure after falling down the stairs at his home. The diminutive maverick, who ignored fashion week convention by showing when and where he wanted, in July produced his first couture collection in six years to rapturous reviews. Now some of his most iconic dresses are going on display in the glass-roofed gallery next to his studio and home in the Marais district where he used to show his creations. It includes the dress worn by supermodel Naomi Campbell, his longtime friend and muse, when she led
