America's sweetheart Jennifer Lawrence is facing backlash after she reportedly made a tasteless rape joke to Mexican filmmaker Alfonzo Cuaron at Cannes. The 23-year-old actress was at the Vanity Fair Cannes Film Festival party when she was overheard by a reporter screaming: "Ahhhhh! Ahhhhh!" According to Vulture's Jada Yuan, the actress' shrieks were "cries of joy" because she had spotted Cuaron in the crowd. "I broke out my rape scream for you!" Lawrence reportedly told the director before screaming "Ahhhhh" once again. The Hunger Games star's alleged remarks were deemed as unacceptable by Bustle's Maitri Mehta, who wrote Lawrence's role as the "star in a young adult franchise" makes her an idol from many young girls. "By her blase use of the terminology, it seems likely that she's been lucky enough never to be in a situation necessitating that type of scream, or else I hope she wouldn't throw it around so casually," wrote Crushable's Alexis Rhiannon. "I'm not suggesting that Jennifer intended to be flippant about rape or assault, just that she was." The Oscar-winning actress is famous for her off-the-cuff remarks and has made headlines in the past over jokes about having an arm pit vagina and comments about her bowel movements. You can reed Vulture's full feature on Lawrence's antics at the Vanity Fair party -- including her secret cure for the hiccups and why she wouldn't pose for pictures with Justin Bieber here.
