Jon Stewart ripped Fox News on The Daily Show Monday for their outrage over the Benghazi attack and lack of equal outrage over the problems in Iraq. Stewart did admit that the White House probably had politics and the upcoming election in mind when they sent then U.N. ambassador Susan Rice on the Sunday talk shows to discuss the attack five days after it occurred. Taking that into account, Stewart pointed out that despite this, Fox was "hypocritical" and sanctimonious for its outrage over Benghazi and dismissal of the myriad scandals and problems that emerged during the Iraq war and previous terrorist attacks. "So, if I may say -- your hypocritical outrage and sanctimony aside," Stewart said, "the reason it's hard for everyone to get outraged by this terribly tragic and ultimately preventable disaster that was Benghazi is that everyone in this country has seen this movie before, only that movie was on an IMAX."
