Lupita Nyong'o took to Instagram to share a lookalike photo of her mother Monday.
The 31-year-old actress posted a side-by-side comparison of herself and mom Dorothy Nyong'o. Mother and daughter share a striking resemblance in the pictures, which both feature the women smiling.
"Like mother (1983), like daughter (2015)," the star captioned the snapshot. "#behindthescenes @luckymagazine @lancomeusa #OhToBeHalfTheWomanMyMumIs! #bts."
Nyong'o was born to Dorothy and Peter Anyang' Nyong'o in Mexico City in 1983. Peter Nyong'o was a college professor turned politician, and the family returned to their native Kenya shortly after the actress was born.
"My mother has never ever worn a drop of makeup in her life -- not even at her wedding," the star told Lucky magazine. "Honestly, my mother's outlook was hard for me to take when I was a teenager and wanted to experiment. But in the end I appreciated it, because today I can look in a mirror with no makeup on and love myself."
Nyong'o earned an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of Patsey in 12 Years a Slave. She subsequently appeared as Gwen Lloyd in Non-Stop, and is scheduled for Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens and a voice role in Disney film The Jungle Book.
