Rapper The Jacka was shot and killed Monday night in East Oakland.
The Jacka, whose real name is Dominic Newton, was taken to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Newton was a promintent rapper in the Bay Area. Originally from Pittsburgh, he performed with the group Mob Figaz before launching a solo career in 2001.
Bay Area police are offering $20,000 for information leading to the arrest of the shooter.
