1400 people killed in Syria's Ein al-Arab

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said Sunday that it has documented the killings of around 1,400 people in clashes between the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and Kurdish fighters defending Syrian town Ein Al-Arab (Kobane).
The killings of about 1,381 people have been documented since ISIL started its attacks on Kobane on 16 September until Saturday night, the SOHR said in a statement.
Among those killed were 27 civilians, 905 ISIL militants, including 36 in suicide car bombings and by explosive belt attacks, and 431 Kurdish fighters, it noted.
Roughly 18 fighters of units supporting defenders were also killed in clashes with ISIL in the town.
Meanwhile, there were fierce battles between opposition groups in Syria and Syrian regime's forces in the vicinity of Aleppo in northern Syria.
The UN Secretary General Special Envoy to Syrian Staffan de Mistura is due to meet later in the day with a number of Syrian armed groups to persuade them to end fighting in Aleppo.
