adec calls on public private schools to participate in national reading month

ADEC
Abu dhabi - WAM

Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Director-General of Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC), has urged public and private schools to activate the National Month of Reading through school activities.

He highlighted the desire of the council to reinforce the reading law upon the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to introduce legislative frameworks for the consolidation of reading values in the UAE.

The move aims to boost the human capital development and building of cognitive abilities.

This law aims to invest in human resources. We, in the ADEC, are working to upgrade the level of our students and contribute to the preparation of an educated generation capable of serving the community and the country," Dr. Al Nuaimi said in a statement.

This will only be possible through adopting ambitious initiatives that drive students to harness their full potential and capacities, and be qualified to face future challenges, he added.

Dr. Al Nuaimi noted that in line with the reading law, the council has implemented a number of initiatives and held activities at public and private schools in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi during the school year, in support of global events such as the World Day of Reading and the World Day of the Arabic Language, as well as to motivate students to participate in competitions of literacy, such as reading challenges, and other competitions and initiatives that develop the linguistic, mental, intellectual and analytical capacities of students.
