PM starts visit to Japan

Prime Minister Hani Al Mulki will start an official visit to Japan on Wednesday during which he will meet with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe as well as senior Japanese officials.

During his several-day visit, Al Mulki, who is accompanied by a number of ministers, will hold talks with Japanese officials on bilateral ties and means to further boost them in the political, economic and trade fields.

The Japanese government welcomed the prime minister’s visit and voiced hope that it will contribute to forging closer ties between the two countries.

Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga said in a press conference that the talks between the two prime ministers will focus on the challenges facing Jordan due to the influx of Syrian refugees.

He pointed to His Majesty King Abdullah’s visit to Japan last year during which he and the Japanese prime minister affirmed commitment of both countries to peace and stability in the Middle East region.

The Japanese Foreign Ministry also welcomed Al Mulki’s visit to Japan and expressed hope that it will further enhance ties of friendship between the two countries.
