Islamophobia Observatory praises unity of Muslims, Christians

The Islamophobia Monitoring Observatory at Egypt's Dar al Ifta has praised the Palestinian national unity among Muslims and Christians in the face of the Israeli ban on the Muslim call to prayer "Azan" in Jerusalem.

In a statement released on Sunday, the Observatory said this racist law of banning the call to prayers is a flagrant aggression on Muslims as well as Christians who have fought together against the Israeli occupation to protect all sacred places in the occupied territories.

It termed the Israeli action as a violation of the freedom of worship and the international humanitarian law in a bid to force Jerusalem residents to leave their land.

The Observatory said the recurrent aggression on religious sanctuaries reflected long-term Israeli strategies that target Muslims and Christians alike.

The statement also warned against the serious repercussions of continuing such racist practices that could further heighten tensions in the region, calling on the Arab and international foundations to take a swift action to halt the recurrent Israeli atrocities that have harmed all Palestinians without discrimination.
