Saudi, Japan Ministers Seek Wider Cooperation

Ministers from Saudi Arabia and Japan have discussed expanding bilateral cooperation to include entertainment, food and healthcare. The meeting took place in Saudi Arabia's capital Riyadh.
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Saudi Arabia's Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al-Saud had agreed in September to launch such a conference, Japan's broadcaster (NHK World) reported.
The Ministers agreed that the bilateral relationship has been too focused on the energy sector and that the two countries will increase investment in wide areas. They also agreed that Japan will help Saudi Arabia develop its human resources. Animation, gaming, food, agriculture, and healthcare are sectors that will receive more investment.
Senior executives of about 30 Japanese firms visited Riyadh to coincide the ministerial meeting. They were on hand to explain projects to their Saudi counterparts.
