UNSC to vote on extended Libya mandate Monday

The UN Security Council is set to vote on a draft resolution to extend the mandate of its mission in Libya by six months in a meeting Monday.
The new mandate should end on December 15, based on a recommendation in a periodical report on the situation in Libya that had been submitted to the UNSC on May 16, according to "Bawabet al Wasat".
The extended mandate is meant to continue to offer support for the Libyan Government of National Accord.
On March 15, the UNSC had extended the mandate of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) until June 15, recognizing the need for a short extension so it could continue working with the country to establish the Government of National Accord.
