As part of the Ministry of interior's Strategic plan of 2017 to ensure traffic safety, the Ajman Police Department installed 113 radars and deployed 131 patrols in the emirate.

Speaking at symposium titled 'Traffic Safety', organised by the Al Bayan newspaper in Ras Al Khaimah, Major General Sultan Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of the Ajman Police, said that the force is making great efforts to increase and develop all traffic control techniques.

The police recently increased the number of radars to 113, installed on various roads to detect speed violations. A total of 131 patrols have recently been deployed on various vital roads and residential areas to ensure traffic safety and security in the city.

The Ajman Police also enhanced the services of the National Ambulance by adding five ambulances, raising the implementation of the High Committee for Traffic Safety's recommendations by 96 per cent, by solving 17 traffic problems.

The police has also organised 43 traffic awareness campaigns to educate the motorists to have them follow safety rules and regulation in order to avoid fatal accidents which could cause death, disability and loss of properties. He said that 102,937 awareness brochures have been distributed, in addition to 58 school visits and 489 awareness messages through social communication. "The impact of the use of speed control techniques in reducing traffic accidents was clear during the last four years. The accident rate decreased from 6.7 in 2013 to 5.2 in 2016."

Major General Shaikh Sultan Al Nuaimi unveiled new development projects to achieve traffic safety. The project includes Ajman Dar Al Aman to monitor the emirate's streets and activating the White and Black Points Law, in addition to supporting the previous stations through increasing traffic control and awareness campaigns.
