Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Regional and GCC Affairs, Ambassador Waheed Mubarak Sayyar took part in in the Second Session of the Arab Economic and Cooperation Forum with the countries of Central Asia and the Republic of Azerbaijan, held at the level of Minister of Economy and Minister of Foreign Affairs in Dushanbe, the Republic of Tajikistan and opened by President Emomali Rahmon.
In a statement at the opening session of the Forum, Ambassador Sayyar emphasized the success of the first session which was held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 2014 and affirmed the need for concerted efforts by the Forum member states to boost the mechanisms of economic cooperation.

He also called for boosting trade exchange and investment in the energy and industrial fields to meet the shared ambitions in addition to enhancing land, sea and air transportation to reinforce bilateral trade, increase trade exchange volume and develop cultural cooperation between both sides.

He also touched on the need to intensify political consultation and unify joint efforts globally vis-à-vis the causes, challenges and regional crises of common concern that affects regional security and stability, topped by the Palestinian cause.

On terrorism, its supporters, funders and interference in the internal affairs of countries in order to destabilize security and stability, Ambassador Sayyar stressed the importance of uniting efforts to combat terrorism in all its forms and drain its sources of funding.

He also condemned and criminalized all those who support the terrorist groups that aim to threaten security and stability in any way, pointing out the involvement of some countries, including Iran and its terrorist organizations, in the internal affairs of the Arab countries, including the Kingdom of Bahrain

It, he said , aimed to destabilize security and stability through media and, logistically and financially in addition to harboring, and training terrorist groups, describing such interference as incompatible and inconsistent with the sovereignty and independence of countries and with the principles of good neighborliness, international norms and UN Charter.

At the same time, He demanded that Iran end its occupation of the three Emirati islands (Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb and Abu Musa), and respond to the peaceful calls of the United Arab Emirates to resolve the issue either through serious and direct negotiations or through the International Court of Justice.

The session ended with the Dushanbe Declaration that welcomed the increasing economic cooperation between the two sides, in trade, investment, energy, renewable energy, transportation, food security, culture and fight against terrorism, calling for support of consensual political solutions to solve the crises in some Arab countries.

The declaration also stressed the need for strengthening coordination and consultation between the two sides and exchanging support on issues of common interest, in a way that would reinforce international security and stability.
