Doha - Emirates Voice

Chairman of the National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) Dr. Ali Bin Samikh Al Marri has underlined that the topic human rights has become a strategic objective of Qatar, and constitutes one of the main pillars of the Qatar National Vision 2030 (QNV 2030).
Speaking at a lecture held at Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF), entitled ‘Human Rights in Qatar – Prospects and Challenges’, Dr. Al Marri noted that the human rights journey in Qatar has displayed many positive signs, showcasing the importance the state places on it, across the civil, political, economic, social, and cultural fields, and that this has, in turn, resulted in many tangible achievements at legislative, executive, and institutional levels.
Dr. Al Marri said: "It is important to remember sustainable development cannot be achieved without human rights. The Permanent Constitution of the State of Qatar issued in 2004 may be one of the most important achievements in the modern history of Qatar. It includes basic principles that demonstrate Qatar has given special priority to human rights. It also showcases that our country has adopted a democratic stance; that the local community is built on justice, charity, freedom, and morality, and it stresses that the state strives to ensure security, stability, and equality for all of its citizens." , he underlined.
Dr. Al Marri said : "The wise leadership of Qatar provides unlimited support to the National Committee for Human Rights. However, while there has been tremendous progress within the concept of human rights, there are still some challenges that need to be addressed and, in turn, overcome, he added. And this view is in line with the guidance of our country’s leadership to better all aspects of human rights, towards achieving success regionally and internationally." , he noted HE Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al -Thani, Vice Chairperson and CEO of Qatar Foundation(QF) attended the lecture.
It was also was attended by a number of QF senior officials
