Dubai Police said that there were no registered cases of drowning or maritime accidents during the Eid Al Fitr holidays.
Major Ali Abdullah Al Naqbi, Head of the Maritime Rescue Department at the Directorate of Transport and Rescue at Dubai Police, said that Dubai Police had successfully implemented the campaign, titled, "Eid Without Accidents", during the Eid holidays, which witnessed a large turnout of visitors to the emirate’s beaches, especially Burj Al Arab, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Courts, Second Jumeirah, Al Mamzar, Dubai Creek and the Dubai Water Canal.
He added that Dubai Police had deployed all types of search and rescue vehicles, including boats, cars and water scooters at the locations that witnessed a large public presence, as well as marine rescue patrols on the beaches, under the supervision of Brigadier General Mohammad Nasser Al Razzouqi, Acting Director of the Directorate of Transport and Rescue.
Major Al Naqbi noted that eight maritime checkpoints were established to deal with any emergency cases during Eid at Al Hamriya, Deira Port, Dubai Creek, the Floating Bridge, First Jumeirah Port, Second Jumeirah Port, Third Jumeirah Port and the Hatta Centre.
He added that Dubai Police officers had worked hard to help people, raise their awareness and provide advice to help them avoid maritime accidents. He noted that Dubai Police were ready before the start of the Eid holidays to handle emergency cases on the beaches.
Major Al Naqbi praised the response of beach visitors to the instructions of Dubai Police and Dubai Municipality to prevent accidents.
