UAE will always be there for Yemen

A UAE newspaper has said that there are ties that exist between the UAE and Yemen that transcend national boundaries or geographical distances, relationships that endure over time and historical circumstances, and bonds that endure and strengthen through humanitarian challenges.

"And now, more than ever, our Arab brothers and sisters in Yemen need the help and support of the UAE," said the English language daily, Gulf News, in an editorial on Friday.

"From this weekend and until the third day of Eid Al Adha, Emirates Red Crescent is launching a widespread and far-reaching initiative to bring aid and relief to the families of Yemeni martyrs and those injured in the troubled land," added the daily.

The paper went on to say, "It’s an initiative that follows in the great tradition of late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who brought this nation together and laid down the founding principles of equality and helping all.

"For the past two years, our Arab brothers and sisters in Yemen have endured upheaval and violence because of Al Houthis grabbing power and overthrowing the legitimate government of President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi. In these turbulent times, disease and pestilence have festered across that brittle land, its infrastructure has been wrecked and its people left to face an uncertain future.

"Throughout, the UAE has stood by Yemen. We are there to help restore stability and security, and are there to root out extremists and terrorists who have used the vacuum in Yemen to further their own evil plans.

"We will be there to rebuild its schools, construct new hospitals, mend bridges and roads, fix power and water supplies and assist the people of Yemen in overcoming their troubles. This new initiative is just one more demonstration of the UAE’s unwavering support for all Yemenis when they need it most," concluded the Dubai-based daily.
