Man in UAE divorces wife over cheating

A 29-year-old husband has divorced his wife after finding out that the woman was cheating on him with another man.

The Al Ain Family Court heard that the Arab couple, who has three children, had been in a rocky relationship for some years as a result of the woman's behaviours.

The woman had reportedly abandoned the role of taking care of her children and the husband.

The man told the court that his wife was spending a lot of time outside the house - in shopping malls, beauty salons and with friends - and was always leaving the kids with a housemaid.

The husband said his 25-year-old wife was behaving in such a manner for quite some time and that he had been patient with her.

He told the court that he used to talk to his wife about changing her behaviours and had advised her to stop working and take care of her family because it was more important than the job that had overtaken her, but the woman refused.

He later found out that she was cheating on him with another man whenever she claimed to have gone out with her friends. And when the husband questioned her about the relationship with the man he suspected of having an affair with, the woman admitted being in love with him.

She told her husband that he was boring her and complained that he wasn't taking her for holidays abroad. She also told her husband that she was ready to get married to the second man if he divorced her.

The man went to the family guidance department which transferred the case to court after the couple failed to reconcile. He told the court that his primary concern was to provide a decent life and future for his wife and children, but was shocked to find out that the woman didn't have love for him and instead wanted to marry the other man.

The court approved their separation after the man insisted on the divorce.
