Foreign Minister meets UN Youth Envoy

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, met with the United Nations Envoy on Youth, Jayathma Wickramanayake, on the sidelines of the seventy-second session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

During the meeting, the Minister congratulated Ms. Wickramanayake on her nomination as the UN Envoy on Youth, praising her vision to integrate young people around the world into the work of the United Nations more effectively and to develop mechanisms to promote youth participation in United Nations efforts to achieve sustainable development, peace, security and humanitarian action.

Ms. Wickramanayake expressed her appreciation for the efforts of the Kingdom of Bahrain as an important model for activating the role of youth in the advancement and development of society, which is in line with the aspirations of the United Nations to achieve the goals of sustainable development, affirming her keenness to continue cooperation with the Kingdom of Bahrain in all initiatives aimed at enhancing the contributions of youth at all levels.
