World supermodels gather in Fiji for pageant

The Amanuca Island Resort and Spa outside Nadi Town is hosting the World Supermodel Pageant for the first time in Fiji from Monday.So far, 23 super models from different countries around the world have already arrived to participate in the event.Pageant President Gavin Dooley said the organizers chose Fiji because of its subtle and scenic condition.\"We picked Fiji to be our fourth spot for the show because of its mesmerizing and beautiful geographic condition,\" Dooley told media, adding \"we also would like to promote and bring to light the talents of young rising stars who are passionate about modeling.\"Fiji is indeed a friendly and attractive place for modeling businesses and we really appreciate being here because we are confident of having a good show.\"According to Dooley, the choreographed show would reveal the world\'s latest fashions and leading designers from each delegate while showcasing and promoting their country\'s culture and lifestyles to the rest of the world right here in Fiji.There are participants from countries like Greece, France, Lebanon, England, Singapore, the Philippines, South Africa, Nepal, Australia and New Zealand that are confident in making this event bigger than last year\'s.Resort official Herc Karakostas said the pageant would highlight both local and international fashions from leading designers.Resort front office manager Tevita Tuidraki said hosting the 23 world rated models and 13 crew members in their resort was a huge stepping stone for them.Just the thought at having this resort selected was a milestone achievement for the resort and its loyal staff, and this was clearly going to add a new dimension to the resorts online awareness, he said.He added the staff felt honored and privileged to be hosting world class models.For most of the models, this is the first time for them to travel to this part of the world.
