Hurricane Irma downgraded to Category Two storm
Hurricane Irma
Miami - Emirates Voice
Hurricane Irma slowed to a Category Two storm after making its second landfall in Florida on Sunday, US forecasters said, warning it still had "dangerous" winds causing "life-threatening" storm surges.
At 5:00 pm (2100 GMT), the hurricane had top winds of 110 miles (177 kilometers) per hour -- at the top end of the Category Two storm range -- with the eye of the storm located just five miles (eight kilometers) north of Naples, the National Hurricane Center said.
"Dangerous storm surges expected immediately after the eye passage along the Florida West Coast," the NHC said. "This is a life-threatening situation. Persons located within these areas should take all necessary actions to protect life and property from rising water and the potential for other dangerous conditions."
It cautioned that although it was set to weaken further, Irma was expected to remain a hurricane at least through early Monday.

to 'eternal style' of late Alaia
Paris - Emiratesvoice
Two months after legendary designer Azzedine Alaia's sudden death plunged the fashion world into mourning, an exhibition in homage to the "King of Cling" opens Monday in his studios in Paris. The Tunisian-born designer, renowned for the way his clothes hugged the body, died suddenly in November aged 82, reportedly of heart failure after falling down the stairs at his home. The diminutive maverick, who ignored fashion week convention by showing when and where he wanted, in July produced his first couture collection in six years to rapturous reviews. Now some of his most iconic dresses are going on display in the glass-roofed gallery next to his studio and home in the Marais district where he used to show his creations. It includes the dress worn by supermodel Naomi Campbell, his longtime friend and muse, when she led
