The heat wave that affected the Kingdom over the past few days is expected to subside as of tomorrow, according to Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD).

Temperatures will slightly drop tomorrow but they will remain above their seasonal average by 3-4 degrees.

According to Director General of the JMD Hussein Momani, relatively hot conditions will prevail in the hilly areas while it will be hot in other regions with maximum temperatures in Amman reaching 35-36 degrees Celsius until Sunday.

He said that the heat wave that has affected the Kingdom over the past few days pushed temperatures by 5-7 degree above their seasonal average, noting that the highest temperature in Amman was recorded on Tuesday when it reached 38.8 degrees or 7 degrees above its annual average.

Momani said that the highest temperature that was recorded in the Kingdom during the recent heat wave was in Deir Alla in the Jordan Valley where mercury levels registered a high of 42.5 degrees.

The highest temperature that was ever recorded in the Kingdom was also in Deir Alla on July 5, 1998 when it reached 48.6 degrees Celsius.
