The Ford Cockpit was a city car concept from 1981. The Cockpit was a two seat concept with the passengers seated in tandem, and powered by a 200cc motorbike engine it had an impressive fuel consumption, 75 mpg. The engine itself was ingeniously mounted inside the single rear wheel, saving space inside the Cockpit\'s cabin.A lightweight body helped considerably with fuel economy, although how safe it would have been in a collision is an entirely different matter, the roll-bar looks like a token gesture more than anything else.The Ford Cockpit never got further than the concept stage.
