Hangzhou - UPI
A Chinese college has issued an apology for a nursing student who took pictures of newborn babies being posed in dangerous positions and posted them online. Zhejiang University apologized Sunday for Xiao Shiyu\'s behavior while she was an intern at Children\'s Hospital, which is affiliated with the school, China Daily reported. In April, Xiao posted photos of babies she worked with being held upright by the shoulder, leaving them with no neck support, to the Chinese micro-blogging Web site Sina Weibo. \"What\'s wrong, baby? Wake up. Are you still alive?\" said Xiao\'s caption underneath the photos. \"This makes me laugh my head off. You even know how to mimic the dead.\" The photos since caused public outrage, with many people accusing her of a lack of love and responsibility. \"The student violated the procedural rules of newborn care and the ban on taking cell phones into hospital wards,\" Zhejiang University said in a statement. \"We hope the public treats the incident as an individual case and doesn\'t magnify it,\" Peng Jianhua, a spokesman for the university, told China Daily Monday. \"We have a complete education system of professional ethics beginning from the orientation for freshmen.\" Xiao apologized for her behavior on her blog Saturday. \"I love babies, but I did it in an incorrect way. I hope Internet users and parents can forgive me for my childish behavior. I will learn a lesson and consciously show professional integrity,\" she wrote.
