The Ministry is responsible for the design and supervision of the BD3,759,499 project, for which the Government has allocated a piece of land of a total area of 28.673m2 and a construction land of a total area of 16.626m2.
The four-storey school building comprises 38 classrooms; 22 classrooms for the primary stage and 16 for the intermediate one, with a capacity to accommodate 1000 students. The school also includes multi-purpose laboratories for science, computer, home science and the library, in addition to offices for the teaching and administrative faculty, sports hall, other service facilities such as toilets and store rooms. All classrooms contain all state-of-the-art educational needs. The school also comprises of a multi-purpose hall covering an area of 900m2, a guard room, electricity sub-station, a cafeteria, and outdoor courts for soccer, handball and basketball, which will accommodate students in the morning and residents in the evening.
The school building has been designed based on the latest MoE’s requirements, which include sustainability, green buildings and energy saving measures; such as thermal insulation for roofs and walls, double-glazing windows to reduce noise, sensor taps in bathrooms, energy saving lighting systems, acoustically insulated vinyl flooring, and paints with low volatile and anti-carbon organic compounds to paint walls internally and externally.
The design also takes into account providing all the facilities needed for students and staff with special needs and also pregnant women, such as constructing a special parking lot close to the main school entrance, providing slopes on all entrances, using non-slip vinyl flooring in all rooms, corridors and stairways, in addition to providing 4 elevators close to all entrances and toilets with a size that properly accommodates the needs of those students.
The school has a number of access points on the main roads connected to it; all leading to an inner road designed by MoW’s Roads Planning & Design Directorate. Parking spaces, a bus-stop and a waiting area for students will also be provided.
