National examination results for 12th Graders endorsed

The High Council of Educational and Training Development has endorsed the results of the fifth national examinations for 12th grade students held under the supervision of the National Authority for Qualifications and Quality Assurance of Education and Training (QQA) in March.
The Council approved the results at a meeting chaired by Deputy Premier and Chairman of the Council HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa on Thursday.
QQA Chief Executive Jawaher Al Mudhahki said that parents in Bahrain were now paying greater attention to national examinations, especially after it was decided that 12.5 per cent of the exam grade are computed into the overall average for the students in their final school year.
Acting Director of National Examinations Wafa Al Yaagoobi said that the students were this year tested in their competencies in Arabic, English and Problem Solving.
She said that 9,633 students from 36 government schools and 342 students from private schools sat for the examinations.
The best results were achieved in Arabic, followed by English and Problem Solving, she added.
“Public school students had a progress of 10 per cent in Arabic over last year, nine per cent in English and one per cent in Problem Solving,” Al Yaagoobi said.
For the private school students, progress topped in English, followed by Arabic and Problem Solving.
