Supreme Council for Youth and Sports board member, Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) member and Women’s Sport Committee chairwoman Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa congratulated Ruba Al Omari and Fatma Safar on qualifying for the 2017 World Para Athletics Championships, to be held in London in July.
The Bahraini duo made outstanding impact at the recently-concluded China Open in Beijing, as Al Omari notched up the discus throw gold medal, while Safar took the shot put gold, thus ensuring themselves a place in the World Championship.
Shaikha Hayat also congratulated Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman, and BOC President on this achievement, which was a result of His Highness continued support to the Bahraini athletes.
