Director General of the Algerian Space Agency (ASAL) Azzeddine Oussedik announced late Monday in Oran the launching of satellites as part of Arab and African constellations. Exposing the program to develop space activity of ASAL to Ministers members of the Executive Council of Arab Ministers of Information and Communication Technologies Technology (ICT) who visited the Satellites Development Centre (CDS) of Oran, Oussedik said that this project is part of strengthening and promotion of Arab and African cooperation in this strategic area. This cooperation also aims to create a beneficial partnership in line with international conventions and treaties on space, particularly with regard to the recommendations of the UN Committee for the Peaceful Use of Outer Space. The Algerian Space Agency aims, secondly, to be attuned to sustainable national development in different social, economic, scientific and other areas, getting ready to launch a group of small and medium satellites of 1000 kg type. In addition to the satellite project \"Alsat 2 B,\" made at CDS Oran to be launched before the end of 2013, the agency has scheduled the launch a series of satellites \"Alsat 4\" with cutting edge technology, in addition to the communications satellite \"Alsatcom\" that will allow achieving a number of strategic objectives in broadcasting, the development of digital photography and the use of mobile and fixed phones. The development programme of space activity in Algeria, which extends from 2006 to 2020, focuses on skills development, the implementation of various innovations such as the integration of cameras in satellites and solar panels in this activity and modernizing applications and experiences for the storage of data and content.
