
Latvian Prime Minister Laimdota Straujuma said Saturdaythat U.S. gas companies might enter the Lavian market in two years time.Straujuma made the remarks upon her return from visit to the United States on Saturday, adding that Latvia has homework to do.Straujuma noted that gas was one of the main topics she discussed during meetingwith U.S. Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz in Washington earlier this week. U.S. gascompanies are currently considering their export to the European countries, as wellas NATO ones.Latvia should work on technical issues such as access to a regional liquefied naturalgas terminal (LNG).Latvia plans gas market liberalization over the next three years in line with thedemand of the European Union's Third Energy Package.
