The Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC ) has expressed hopes that the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)'s petroleum media strategy would pave the way for larger Arab media cooperation to coordinate stances of member states. In its March addition, the OAPEC monthly magazine' editorial noted that the organization's general secretariat is closely following the recent developments in the petroleum media in the Arab Gulf countries, particularly the adoption of a new strategy to offer accurate and objective coverage to oil industry news. It expressed hopes that these efforts would be crowned with success to activate coordination between OAPEC's member states and specialized petroleum organizations. It pointed out that the rapid developments in information technology have imposed new challenges to the petroleum media in the member states. These challenges require greater cooperation and new approaches to better address them and to provide specialists and the public with more accurate and credible coverage to news relative to petroleum industry.
