South Sudan\'s oil reaches Sudan for exportation

Sudan's Petroleum Minister Awad Ahmed Al-Jaz said South Sudan's oil has reached the main processing station at Sudan's Higleg oil field, Khartoum Almeghar Al-Siasi daily reported Wednesday. The paper quoted the minister as saying that "South Sudan's oil has reached the main processing station at Higleg oil field and now on its way to the export harbors in Port-Sudan."Al-Jaz on Tuesday inspected the fields of the Greater Nile Petroleum Operating Company in Higleg to get acquainted with progress of South Sudan's oil exportation through Sudan's oil pipelines, the report said. He added that Sudan would begin a new experience in the field of oil exportation, urging the company employees to make maximum use of this experience to institute for cooperation with the neighboring countries in this field. He praised the role of the Sudanese armed forces and other regular forces in securing this area and other areas in the country, pointing out that the wars which took place at these areas tended to disturb security and economically affect the country. In January 2012, Juba decided to halt its oil exportation through Sudanese territories after Khartoum deducted oil fees arrears in the form of crude oil. In March this year, the two sides signed in Addis Ababa an agreement of modality to implement the security arrangement as well as the cooperation agreement reached in Ethiopia in September last year. Khartoum and Juba further agreed to resume South Sudan's oil exportation through Sudan's pipeline.
