Canadian pipeline company TransCanada Corp. said it secured nearly 2 billion cubic feet per day worth of commitments for a U.S. shale gas pipeline system. TransCanada said the gas commitments for its ANR pipeline network would service its Southeast Main Line system in the United States. About 1.25 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day will be sent through the system this year and full capacity will be scheduled next year. ANR secured contracts for gas reserves sourced from the Utica and Marcellus shale reserve areas in the United States. Russ Girling, president and chief executive officer at TransCanada, said the commitments for the ANR pipeline systems means the company can plan for additional volumes. "ANR continues to be a critical piece of natural gas infrastructure that enables growing U.S. production to access both existing continental and growing export markets," he said in a statement.
