Dubai - WAM

The UAE and Saint Kitts and Nevis, a dual-island nation in the Caribbean, signed an initial agreement for air transport services.

Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director-General of General Civil Aviation Authority, GCAA, and Mark Brantley, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Aviation of Saint Kitts and Nevis, signed the agreement in the presence of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of the Emirates Group; Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Co-operation, and Justin Hawley, Consul-General of Saint Kitts and Nevis in Dubai.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed and Minister Brantley later discussed ways of bolstering bilateral ties in areas such as economy and investment, and reviewed several other areas of mutual interest.

Saint Kitts and Nevis is one of the first of the Caribbean Sea countries to establish diplomatic ties with the UAE. It supported the UAE’s bid to host Expo 2020 in Dubai and sent a letter to confirm its participation in the event. The island nation also expressed its willingness to open an embassy in Abu Dhabi.
