Brazilian Football Confederation security concerns

The Pharaohs are waiting for the new coach Brazil’s friendly game against Egypt has been cancelled for security reasons, the Brazilian Football Confederation said on Tuesday. The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) said last week the Pharaohs would not be able to play the match, which was scheduled for 6 September, due to their commitments in the African Cup of Nations qualifiers.
EFA spokesman Azmy Megahed claimed earlier on Tuesday that Brazil had agreed to hold the match in November instead of September. However, in a statement on their official website, the CBF said the match would not go ahead.
“The friendly was cancelled at the request of the Egyptian federation due to security worries.  But Brazil’s national team will still play a friendly in September against a yet-to-be determined opponent, who would be announced in the coming days,” the CBF revealed.
Coach-less following the departure of Hassan Shehata, Egypt, whose hopes of qualifying for next year’s Nations Cup finals in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon are virtually over, will face Sierra Leone in the penultimate qualifier early in September.
Egypt last met Brazil in the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup in South Africa, where they suffered a last-gasp 4-3 defeat after producing a brave display.
