Information Affairs Minister, Ali bin Mohammed Al-Romaihi, has expressed profound condolences and consolidation to the press and media community in Bahrain following the death of the renowned journalist Ahmed Salman Kamal, who passed away today at the age of 87 years after a long career laden with giving and dedication in love of the nation and press and media creativity.

With the death of Ahmed Salman Kamal, the Bahraini, GCC and Arab press, media and culture community has lost one of the free and responsible press icons, a radio work pioneer and a prominent literary and intellectual personality from whom many journalists and media persons have learnt, the minister said, adding that the late journalist was a role model for patriotism, GCC, Arab and Islamic belonging, as well as for dedication and professional competence.

Al-Romaihi stressed that the Information Affairs Ministry is proud of the innumerable contributions of the late journalist, and appreciates his outstanding competence which he had proved throughout the posts he had held since 1957.

He pointed out that the Ministry of Information Affairs had documented the contributions of the Ahmed Salman Kamal in one of its publications in which the writer Dr. Mansoor Mohammed Sarhan highlighted his honourable national, Arab and media history, as well as his press contributions and patriotic articles which set the example in objectivity, honesty, sincerity, keenness on the nation’s unity, progress and prosperity, in addition to his advocacy of joint GCC and Arab action.

The minister prayed to Allah the Almighty to rest the soul of the late journalist in eternal peace, and bless his relatives and colleagues with patience and fortitude.
