Palestinian President receives Arab League Secretary-General

Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, has received Ahmed Aboul-Gheit, Arab League Secretary-General, who arrived in Ramallah on Wednesday.
During the meeting, the Palestinian President stressed the importance of coordination between the Arab League and the Palestinian leadership on future political steps to protect Palestinian rights and to work towards ending the Israeli occupation and establishing an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital based on the 1967 borders.
Mr. Abbas also highlighted that it is important that there should be Arab backing for the French initiative to convene an international conference before the end of this year to resume the peace process.
