Cairo - Ana
Egypt\'s ruling Supreme Council of Armed Forces (SCAF) urged national powers to intervene in order to end tension and halying violence as clashes between security forces and protesters continue at Mohamed Mahmoud, Mansour streets near to interior ministry in downtown Cairo. In the statement issued by Military council on it\'s official page on social network Facebook, the council urged “all national and political powers of this great nation to act promptly and play their national and historical role to bridge the rift, end sedition, and restore calm.” The council pointed out that there are attempts to escalate the situation “from external parties and internal ones.” It called for “denying those who harbor ill-intentions the opportunity to inflict more damage or more loss of life.” The council ascertained the right to stage peaceful demonstrations and sit-ins. Clashes erupted Thursday and Friday after deadly riots in a football match in Port Said. Different political powers accused authorities of failing to not only perform their duties but conspiring against Al-Ahli club Ultras for their political activity as well. It was reported that 74 people were killed and around 1000 were injured in these riots.
