A European Union team of election experts begin a visit to Jordan on Monday as part of invitations by the Independent Elections Commission IEC to international organisations to monitor the Kingdom\'s upcoming parliamentary polls. During their several-day stay, the EU delegation will hold a series of meetings with governmental bodies and non-governmental organisations as well as local monitoring teams to discuss the prospect of sending an EU observer mission to the Kingdom. At the outset of their mission, the delegation will meet the president and members of the IEC Commission to take a first-hand look at measures taken so far to carry out the various stages of the electoral process. The IEC has put forward an executive blueprint for accreditation of international observers and the instructions will soon be published in the official gazette.
