The National Communication Centre (NCC) has organised a visit to the National Action Charter Monument for a delegation of foreign reporters and journalists who covered the Bahrain International Defence Exhibition and Conference (BIDEC 2017).
Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Services and Student Activities at the Ministry of Education, Dr. Shaikha Al-Jeeb, informed the delegation about the edifice and about citizens who voted for the National Action Charter in the national referendum and whose names were engraved on the walls of the monument.
The referendum on the National Action Charter was endorsed by an overwhelming majority of 98.4 percent of eligible voters, thus embodying the strong national cohesion, as well as tolerance and co-existence among all the segments of the Bahraini society, and their rallying behind the kingdom’s leadership.
The delegation also watched a number of films and shows documenting the important phase in the kingdom’s history.
Professor Aziz Fahmy, a writer and political researcher from Washington, who is visiting Bahrain to attend BIDEC 2017, considered the National Action Charter as a unique experience aimed at consolidating the values of citizenship.
It is a vivid embodiment of a democratic experience based on sustainable reform and national cohesion, he said, stressing the importance of including such a pioneering experience in the kingdom’s school curricula.
