The Iraqi Foreign Ministry mourned the death of Iraqi Ambassador to Chile Taha Shokr al Abbasi, who died of a heart attack. The Ministry said in a statement issued Thursday that the Ambassador died in the Chilean Capital Santiago Wednesday night. The late Ambassador was born in Mosul 1947and graduated from Faculty of Arts. From 1947, he was working for the diplomatic corps, and moved between Asia, Europe and Latin America until he became Ambassador in 1993. The ministry said that Abbasi represented Iraq as a resident and non-resident in many countries. He was the only Iraqi Ambassador in all of Africa during the 90s. Before becoming Iraqi Ambassador for Chile, he chaired the Neighbouring Countries Department. Losing Abbasi at this time is a sad loss for the Iraqi Minister and diplomatic corps.
