The United States continues playing the "Russian card" in its electoral process and Moscow often witnesses manifestations of "blatant Russophobia," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Wednesday as quoted by Sputnik news agency.
"We state that the ‘Russian card’ and the ‘card’ of our president at times becomes the deciding factor in the US electoral process. It would be much nicer if this card played a positive role," Peskov said when asked about US presidential candidates’ statements regarding Russia.
According to the spokesman, Kremlin still witnesses manifestations of "frequent blatant Russophobia."
"This rhetoric which is often formed in the electoral style, but of course such wording hardly promotes the success of the very shy and very fragile attempts of establishing any mutual trust," Peskov said.
During a campaign speech for Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton in Pennsylvania on Tuesday, US President Barack Obama blasted her Republican opponent Donald Trump for praising Russian President Vladimir Putin.
