
The current tense relations between Malaysia and North Korea will not trigger a war as the defense ministry has yet to receive any alarming report, Malaysian Defense Minister said.
Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said as defense minister, he would be the first to know (if a war was imminent) but to date, had yet to receive any alarming report involving Malaysia and North Korea, Malaysian news agency (Bernama) reported.
"I am not denying that to date, it is indeed tense but not to the level of going to war," he told reporters.
The Malaysia-North Korea ties soured following the murder of Kim Jong-Nam, the estranged half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un at the KL International Airport 2 on February 13, which was followed by the exchange of accusations about the circumstances and causes of the accident, along with escalation the matter the from both sides.
It included the expulsion of North Korea's ambassador in Kuala Lumpur, and the imposition of visas on its citizens to enter Malaysia, preventing workers out of North Korean embassy of the country, in response to Pyongyang's decision to ban out of the Malaysian territory.
