Prime Minister Najib Mikati and his Iraqi counterpart Nouri al-Maliki discussed the regional situation and economic issues Wednesday, including the need to boost commercial aitr travel between Lebanon and Iraq. A statement by Mikati’s office said the prime minster also discussed Lebanon’s desire to export apples to Iraq. During his telephone call with Maliki, Mikati renewed his invitation to the Iraqi prime minister to visit Lebanon. Maliki promised he would visit Lebanon soon, the statement said. The conversation followed a morning meeting between Mikati and the Iraqi Ambassador to Lebanon Omar al-Barzanji.
