Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry received a phone call from his US Secretary of State John Kerry on Monday as part of political consultations on regional developments.
They took up efforts on encouraging the Palestinian and Israeli sides to resume the peace process, Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said.
They also discussed the developments of the Syrian crisis, the situation in Libya and anti-terrorism efforts, the spokesman said.
The phone contact reflected the two sides’ keenness to boost bilateral ties and support Egypt against the present economic challenges, he added.
