
Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry on Monday phoned his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov, a statement by spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abou Zeid said.
The two ministers discussed the recent regional developments, especially the situation in Syria and efforts exerted by Egypt at the Security Council to facilitate a consensus among the Member States on the best way to deal with the humanitarian suffering of the Syrian people in Aleppo, the spokesman said.
The talks also dealt with the Egyptian efforts towards the crisis in Libya, and the developments in both Iraq and Yemen, he added.
The top diplomats also discussed aspects of strengthening bilateral relations in various fields and the resumption Russian tourism and flights to Egypt, the statement concluded.
